On Monday, I released a new plugin that makes it easy to roll out new site features with confidence. Feature Flags is a Craft CMS plugin that enables runtime control over new features on your site. ➡️ Toggle features on or off from the control panel. ➡️ Target specific users, user groups, or environments with flexible rules. ➡️ Gradually roll out changes to a percentage of your audience ➡️ Choose from the four flag types: Release, Experiment, Ops, and Permission. ➡️ Use expiration dates to auto-disable flags after a set date. When to Use a Feature FlagFeature flags are flexible to support almost any situation: 1️⃣ Target an internal user group to test a feature in production 2️⃣ Target individual users (like a client!) 3️⃣ Roll out risky or impactful features or changes to small portions of your visitors 4️⃣ Put up a maintenance banner to everyone who visits until an expiration date 5️⃣ Test new checkout flows and compare cart abandonment numbers between new flow and existing flow ...and whatever else you can think of! This is must-have behavior for every Craft CMS project. I created a lesson video walking through some of the examples above, so please check it out!
