Craft CMS Development Workflow with DDEV

One of my favorite things about DDEV is how easy it makes it to cre­ate a mod­ern local devel­op­ment and remote work­flow for your Craft CMS project. In this video I want­ed to show you how easy that is but…I already did!

In fact, I have an entire course ded­i­cat­ed to cre­at­ing a mod­ern devel­op­ment work­flow for Craft CMS. It’s called Mov­ing to a Mod­ern Devel­op­ment Work­flow for Craft CMS.

This course is 12 parts and cov­ers migrat­ing an exist­ing project to Git ver­sion con­trol, DDEV for local devel­op­ment, Github, Servd for host­ing, cre­at­ing seed data­bas­es, and project READMEs. At the end, we spin up the project as if we’re a new devel­op­er onboard­ing onto a new project. It’s a very prac­ti­cal and help­ful course!

As I men­tioned, the local devel­op­ment com­po­nent of this work­flow uses DDEV and that is cov­ered in video 3 of the course. How­ev­er, I encour­age you to check out the entire course so you can get an idea of how I’ve helped clients have a mod­ern devel­op­ment work­flow using off-the-shelf tools that don’t require any cus­tom tool­ing or exten­sive management.
