Testing Email Sending in Craft Nitro

In addition to the core functionality of local hosting, Craft Nitro also has ancillary services that fill out the total experience of running a Craft site.

In addition to the core functionality of local hosting, Craft Nitro also has ancillary services that fill out the total experience of running a Craft site.

When we are are developing projects with Craft, we don’t want to use normal email servers. It crosses the streams of testing and production, and there’s the chance that we’ll accidentally send someone, like a customer, an email.

To prevent that there are email testing services out there that will run an email server in a black box, never letting the emails get routed to a destination server and email box. Some are hosted and some you run yourself.

Craft Nitro comes with support for a locally run tool called Mailhog as part of its suite of Services. Nitro will run a Docker container dedicated to Mailhog.
